Taykor Brashears, AYSO PLAY! Community Ambassador & Soccer Trainer
Travis Sanders, Community Leader, Youth Outreach United
AYSO linked arms with the Youth Outreach United (Y.O.U.) community group run by local advocate Travis Sanders. Y.O.U. is a faith-centered organization that unites kids across church communities, providing structure through youth ministry, mentoring, guidance, and now soccer activity as well.
AYSO PLAY! was able to bring the game to the community – working with Y.O.U. to secure playing space using converted Tennis courts and two apartment complexes where Y.O.U. already delivers services. AYSO PLAY! supplied the equipment, curriculum, and trainer, running an 8-week introductory program at each location. Growing interest and outstanding program survey responses will result in an expanded program for Spring 2024.
Said Sanders, “Partnering with AYSO has been a wonderful experience, not only for the kids we serve but also for Youth Outreach United as an organization. The kids in the neighborhood get a quality program centered around a fun activity of cultural relevance led by people who truly care. Y.O.U. has, in turn, connected more deeply with the families in our service areas through AYSO to help fill needs and bring hope.”
